Bat Mitzvah

The United Hebrew Congregation prides itself with its meaningful Bat Mitzvah ceremony. This was devised some years ago by Rabbi Daniel and Naomi Levy. The service takes place after Shacharit and before Musaph (as such, Ashrei is not recited before the Sefer Torah is returned).

The outline for the ceremony is as follows:

The Chazzan sings Eishet Chayil. The Bat Mitzvah girl gives a D'var Torah from the ladies section of the shul. This is followed by the Bat Mitzvah prayer (Hebrew and English) which is also recited by the Bat Mitzvah. The ceremony concludes with an address and presentation from the Rabbi.
