Bar Mitzvah

Boys approaching Bar Mitzvah are encouraged to attend shul on Shabbat morning for the years leading up to their Bar Mitzvah. They are also encouraged to lay tephillin for at least twelve Sundays prior to their Bar Mitzvah. They must also pass the Bar Mitzvah exam which is under the auspices of the Talmud Torah. They may then read Maftir and Haftorah.
